Why Khaali exists

Flat and flatmate openings in Indian cities live in WhatsApp groups: unstructured, stale and silent about the things that decide a deal, like food in the kitchen, who already lives there and what a month really costs.

Khaali is a plain, fast alternative. Anyone can post an opening in a few minutes without an account. Every listing expires after seven days unless the poster confirms it is still open, so what you see is open now. You can read every listing in full without logging in; only the phone number is held back until you ask for it.

How it works

1. 1.Pick a city and a locality, then narrow by budget, gender, food, furnishing and more.
2. 2.Open a listing and read everything: who lives there, what it really costs, what they are looking for. No account, no app.
3. 3.Reveal the number and talk on WhatsApp.

What you can look for

• A room in a shared flat: private or shared rooms, with the household described before you call.
• A whole flat or house: for families, couples and groups who want the place to themselves.
